I hate driving in the snow or heavy rain and last Saturday I did just that. I was driving with my boys to a store about twenty minutes from our house. It was raining and I was nervous to traverse the wet, busy, and construction-clogged freeway. Because we didn't have to be anywhere at a certain time, though, I reminded myself I didn't need to hurry. And guess what? My confidence increased as I allowed myself to take things at a slower but steady pace.
How many times in life do we get moving at breakneck speed and all sorts of stress, worry, or fear set in as a result? Of course there are things we have to do and places we have to be. But if we could slow down and proceed through life at a less rushed pace, I think our confidence in ourselves and what we can do would increase and so would our enjoyment of life.
What do you do to slow life down a bit?

I've taken the whole month of Feb. to plot my next novel. It feels weird not writing every day, but I'm hoping it will pay off.

Love this! I found myself in a slow-down moment just yesterday. I was driving to the hospital to visit my sister, and my baby daughter had fallen asleep in the back seat. Instead of pedal-to-the-metal, I slowed waaay down so I could stretch her nap out a bit. :) I discovered the same thing you said. It felt so much more relaxed and I thought, "Why don't I go this speed more often?" :)
Hope you have a great weekend!
Wendy - I did something similar and it's definitely helped to know what's coming when I sit down to write.
Jen - I completely agree. All that rushing around does take it's toll physically and mentally.
Sarah - Aren't sleeping babies the cutest? :) I had the chance to slow down today and hang out with my daughter while she played in her room. It was so nice to just be in the present.
I had a similar experience driving in the snow, but I didn't think about how it applied to the rest of my life. And it's something I really need to apply to the rest of my life. Thanks for sharing!
Jenilyn - Believe me, the only reason I was able to apply this driving experience to anything at all was because it was much less harrowing than some of the other times I've been in the snow or rain! :) You'd think living in Utah I'd be used to those kind of conditions by now, but not yet.
