I keep thinking about this post I read last week by literary agent Rachelle Gardner. She quoted this line from a popular TV show: This is as good as this job gets. Savor it.
This bit of sage advice can apply to nearly every facet of life - jobs, parenting, relationships, etc. It's a reminder to me that most good things in life aren't easy and require work, but there are those moments of joy, of success, of peace. I want to be better about savoring those - instead of blowing past them, hoping for something better. Because those savored moments are what make life so rich and sweet!
What moments are you savoring this week? How are you doing that?

I think that's one a keeper for sure. Too much in life is trying to distract us into NOT savoring.
I'm really delighting in both being a parent and a writer lately. Laughter with my kids is priceless.

I'm savoring things I never used to--stuff I took for granted--like a roof over my head:))
Right now I'm savoring the quiet. I've been so busy lately, out and about, that it's really nice to just sit in my house and read blogs. :-)
Right now I am savoring some oatmeal...oh you weren't talking about food though. Right. :) But seriously, I think we should always be appreciating what we have--its sort of the key to happiness.
Wendy - So true about other things trying to distract us from savoring, from not celebrating the simple!
Terri - Love this thought!
Jessica - Ahh quiet! :) I love to savor this too.
Jessie - I like to savor oatmeal with fresh strawberries in it! Yum. :)
My son graduated college last Saturday, and my daughter graduates grad school this Sunday. I'm just over the moon and savoring the special moments with them.
This is a little bit like "love the moment you are in"--I love it great advice :)
I constantly have to remind myself this as a mom. This week I did a water balloon fight/tag race with the kids. It was a blast and I can never get these days back so I'm so glad I took the time to savor them.
Loree - Congratulations to your kids! Graduations are great moments to savor.
Angela - It really resonated with me too, especially in regards to being a mom.
Joanne - Sounds like a super fun time with your kiddos!
Savoring moments? Hmm... My daughter was super sweet the last couple of days. When she gets like that, I truly to savor those moments. Love this post. :)
I hate to admit this, but I always savor moments with my kids last. So i've been focusing on them a lot more. I always let myself get so busy and I know I'll regret that in a few more years.
Mina - When kids say or do something sweet, those are precious moments indeed!
Erin - More than any other area of my life, the advice to "savor it" really hit home to me as a mother too. If anything, it's helped me not to have such high expectations and appreciate the small successes more.
Having a hard time savoring this week. i feel in a rush. But I'm going to try and slow down.
Jennifer - I hope you get the chance to slow down soon - I sure love those weeks that are less crazy. :)
