I had the opportunity to attend the LDS Storymakers Writers Conference last week - this is my fifth year! It was their biggest conference yet, with something like 450 writers/authors.
One of the most helpful things I took away from the conference was something one of the attending agents said. She reminded us to "believe in yourself." It's challenging to be a writer and break into the publishing world, and you must have that belief in what you're doing and what you want to accomplish. And the belief to stick with it.
Another agent had an analogy I really liked. She talked about how we might pick up a bestseller and think, "this book isn't really my taste." The same is true with manuscripts. And somewhere there's someone who is going to have a taste, a love, for what you're writing.

Lady Outlaw
No one would ever imagine a fresh-faced young woman could be robbing stage bandits of their ill-gotten fortunes. But Jennie Jones is desperate to save her family's ranch from foreclosure. And the risks seem worth it, until her upright new ranch hand offers a glimpse of how much is really at stake.
Former bounty hunter Caleb Johnson is ready for a new, clean start. With a woman like Jennie, he could build a future there in Utah territory. But only if his gentle faith can guide her in a choice between the land she's fought so hard to save and a future by his side.
